Bengaluru stays and getaways

About Bengaluru

Bengaluru is usually the beginning or end of a trip rather than the destination. Travellers use it for business visits, airport connections and short stays before heading to Coorg, Mysuru, Ooty or farther.

If you are visiting the city itself, Lalbagh, Cubbon Park and the Bangalore Palace are the usual first stops, and many of its hotels suit business or short leisure stays.

Things to do in Bengaluru

• Lalbagh Botanical Garden
• Cubbon Park and the museums nearby
• Bangalore Palace
• Bannerghatta National Park on the city edge
• Cafes, breweries and food streets

Who Bengaluru suits

Business travellers, visitors with connecting flights, and travellers using the city as a base for weekend trips.

Getting around Bengaluru

Kempegowda International Airport is about 35 to 40 km from the centre. Bengaluru has several major railway stations, including Bengaluru City, Yeshwantpur and KSR. The Namma Metro covers central areas, and road traffic is heavy at peak hours.

A sample plan for Bengaluru

If you have a day in the city, start at Lalbagh in the morning and walk through Cubbon Park. After lunch, visit the Bangalore Palace and end with an evening in one of the food streets.

Planning tips for Bengaluru

• Allow extra time for the airport, because peak-hour traffic is unpredictable.
• Choose a hotel near your meetings or near the airport, depending on your plan.
• Start weekend trips early to beat the city traffic.
