Bangalore to South India: distance and drive time to every place we plan
How far is each South India destination from Bangalore? This page lists the road distance, the typical drive time and the best months for 30 places, from Mysuru to Kanyakumari, so you can pick a trip that fits the days you have.
How to read the distances
The figures are typical road distances from Bengaluru, shown as a range where road sources disagree. The exact number changes with the route and with where in the city you start, so use it to compare places, not to schedule a trip to the minute. Each place has its own page with the route, a sample plan and the best season.
A useful rule is to keep the one-way drive to about a third of your trip length or less. That leaves most of your time at the destination. If you have two days, choose from the first group. With a long weekend, the second group works. Beyond about 400 km, plan three days or more, or add a train or a flight.
Up to about 250 km: a weekend drive
These fit a Saturday-to-Sunday trip. Leave early and plan one night.

Getting the best out of a long drive
Leave early, plan a break about every two hours and avoid night driving on forest and ghat roads, where some stretches restrict night travel. For the longest routes, many travellers take an overnight train or bus one way and drive the other, or fly to the nearest airport and hire a car. We plan the transport and the timing around your group and confirm the details before anything is booked.
